A note from the AP...

A bittersweet goodbye...

Some of you may have heard that I will be moving on next school year.  It is a very bittersweet move for me for sure.  I have accepted a Principal position at Chapman Hills Elementary School in Orange.  More news is that the AP position has been reinstated and Melinda will have an AP next year!

It has been an honor and a pleasure to be a part of the Melinda Heights family this year.  Each of you have touched my heart and the memories created will remain with me always.  Melinda really is a magical place!

I wish you all the best and thank you for the opportunity to be a part of your children's lives.  Abbey and I will definitely try to stop by at one of the many fabulous events next year to say hello!

End of the Year

Wow! June is here and another year is quickly coming to a close.  The 07-08 school year has been one of great learning and fun memories as well as one that has been filled with challenges and some sorrows.  The school pride and strength of spirit that all students, staff and families have shown this year are what truly make Melinda Heights the wonderful place it is!

Remember that our last day, June 18th, is a minimum day.

Student Council News

Student Council elections were held this month and I am happy to congratulate the following students on their new appointments:

President- Connor Fitzgerald   Vice President- Megan Logsdon

Secretary- Anna Batcheller    Treasurer- Megan Bolich

Historian- Isabella Colby

Way to go Mountain Lions!  We look forward to your leadership!

I would also like to thank our out-going Student Council Reps and congratulate them on a job well done.  And a great big thank you also to Mrs. Bolich and Miss Rizzo, our advisors.  Great job!

STAR Testing

State testing is now concluded.  Scores will be mailed directly to your home in August.

Paws and I visited every classroom before testing began to share words of encouragement, wish the students good luck and deliver a place marker to every student.  The place markers were created by Mrs. O'Neill and Paws made one for each student to have.  Thanks Mrs. O'Neill and Paws!

Emergency Preparedness

We have been successfully conducted our monthly fire and earthquake drills and I was always impressed with how quiet, cooperative and well behaved our students are during the drills.  Great work Moutain Lions!

Project Tomorrow

A big thank you to the Project Tomorrow docents from THHS for bringing exciting "hands-on" science lessons into our third and sixth grade classrooms this year.  A great experience for everyone involved!

Summer wishes...

Summer is here and you've all worked hard this year and accomplished a lot.  Enjoy your summer, rest, relax, read, and spend time with family and friends!  Here's to a happy, safe and relaxing summer!
